A simple, solid ticketing setup

Guest list in a spreadsheet: Ticket, Name, Email, Seat.
Generate IDs above, paste them into the Ticket column.

Email each guest their image with a mail-merge tool, or print the ticket PDF.
At the door, scan into the same spreadsheet or a check-in app; highlight duplicates to catch reused tickets.

Keep personal data out of the code itself. A QR code can be read by anyone who photographs it; an opaque ID reveals nothing.

How do QR code tickets work?

Each ticket carries a unique code, usually a random ticket ID or a link containing it. At the door, staff scan it with a check-in app or a spreadsheet-linked scanner, which marks the ID as used so it can't be reused.

What should I put in each ticket QR code?

An unguessable ID, not the attendee's personal details. Something like T-7F3K-92QD or https://yourevent.example/t/7F3K92QD. Sequential numbers (0001, 0002…) are easy to forge.

Can I print tickets from here?

Yes. Choose "Printable PDF label sheet" and the Tickets layout (8 per US Letter page, 4 × 2.5 in) or any label template, and add the attendee name or seat as a caption.

Do I need an app to scan the tickets?

Any phone camera will read the code. To validate and prevent reuse you need something that checks the ID against your list: a check-in app, a form, or a USB scanner typing into a spreadsheet with conditional formatting on duplicates.
