Getting a clean print

Actual size. In the print dialog choose 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" shrinks everything by a few percent and the rows drift down the sheet.
Laser beats inkjet for barcodes: inkjet ink spreads on glossy labels and fattens bars. If you must use inkjet, choose matte labels and "best" quality.
Test one page on plain paper first and hold it against a label sheet to a window.
Bar height: linear barcodes are scaled to fit the label with a small inset. On very short labels (L7651), keep values short or switch to QR / Data Matrix.

Questions people ask

How do I print barcodes on Avery labels?

Load your data, pick the code type, choose "Printable PDF label sheet", select your Avery template (5160, 5163, L7160, L7651…) and download. Print at 100% / Actual size, not "Fit to page", or the codes drift off the labels.

My labels are slightly misaligned. What do I do?

Check the print dialog is set to Actual size with no scaling. If it is still off by a millimetre or two, that is printer feed tolerance: print one test page on plain paper and hold it against a label sheet up to a window.

Which label size suits which code?

Avery 5160 / L7160 (about 2.6 × 1 in / 63.5 × 38 mm) fit Code 128 SKUs and small QR codes. Avery 5163 (4 × 2 in) suits shipping-style labels and QR cards. L7651 (38 × 21 mm) is for small asset tags; use short values or QR.

Can I print on a thermal label printer?

Download the PNG or SVG ZIP instead and send the images through your printer's software (Zebra, Dymo, Brother, Rollo). Set the PNG width to match the label at 203 or 300 dpi.
